Grove Hall Branch Welfare Building is built.

It is located at 515 Blue Hill Avenue. Dorchester resident Mayor John Hynes subsequently remarks, “I never thought I’d see the day when a welfare branch office would be necessary.” The building is purchased by the city in 1996 and is now the home of Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center.
